Yeah #10 def needs to get it together- now with the injury he had gotta cut him some slack there - The problem is his Cap hit - and being the ninth highest paid player in the league and the highest paid right wing -
And it seems that unless he is paired with Getz he cannot create for himself - Or drastically falls off with who is paired with -
And 4 more yrs @ 8.6 mil for 19 goals ain't gonna cut it - |

Yeah, the unofficial word was that Perry was playing with an ankle sprain throughout most of last season. He did manage to get 215 shots on goal, which matched his total from 2 years ago. However, the shooting percentage was the issue. An issue that was a problem for just about everyone outside of Rakell and Eaves.
Pucks weren't going in last year, and you just got this feeling that a scoring chance was good enough. Just a weird culture at times. Lots of discouragement. Then the Eaves trade happened, and it was like ever time he took to the ice, all he was thinking was, I have to score. There was an urgency to Eaves' game that was lacking from the rest of Anaheim's lineup.
Coaches sometimes struggle with teams having difficulties scoring. Is it the breakouts? Is it the forecheck? Is it the cycle? Even after all those things, which Anaheim does well, the goalie is still in the way, and if this team wants success, and wants to make things easier on themselves, they'll find a way to beat these goaltenders.
My only recommendation for Perry is that he cuts it out with the antics. It's tough being a strong personality in a league of so many dimwits in need of a good pasting. Just a common theme you see everywhere these days. At least New Method Wellness is spending their ad dollars well. Lots of drug addicts talking a big game everywhere you look. People that ruin families and lie compulsively in an attempt to inflate their ego. A condition you see all the time. |

What?! Another thread. I'm feeling spoiled now. Anyways I feel the old Perry is gone. It's sad to say but I think we have been watching him adjust his game over the last couple of years to be more rounded and be less of a pest. That saying I still think he puts up 50+ points this year at least. Maybe 30 goals or so. It also depends on who centers him this year. So the physical grinding pest we all know and love may be gone. But a smarter more Willy Perry your probably going to see in the coming years. |

Haha, it will most likely be every other day as I cannot ignore my commitment as the Lightning blogger as well. The content will definitely pick up as the season begins.

What Perry is known best for is being a big douche.
I even have a hard time cheering for him when he plays for Canada.

Thanks for doing this John, it's much appreciated. As for Perry, it was blatantly obvious something was wrong when Patrick Eaves showed up. Eaves plays Corey Perry's game, go to the net, block the goalies vision and capitalize on rebounds. For whatever reason Perry stopped doing that last season. Perhaps the aforementioned ankle injury made him gun shy, but he needs to get back to being the pain in the ass he used to be in front of the net. |

He wasn't close to that last year. I'm praying to the cap gods that he becomes that again this year. |

I've never had a hard time rooting for Perry. You have to understand that he does those things on ice to get a reaction from the opposing team. Everybody that knows him off the ice says he really quiet. Perry himself says that he needs to play on the edge. So if he thinks it's necessary I'm ok with it.
But hey. I thought most Canadian hockey fans liked physical play? |

Unlike most NHL players, Perry isn't all bark. You get a lot of slingers of empty threats. People who are only good at flapping their gums and sticking their chin out just so they can cry, "Victim!" Make no mistake, the low T epidemic is slowly pansifying the NHL.
Anyways, I'd figure I'd inject some actual substance here (figuratively speaking). I'm sure we all saw Beauchemin is back. Obviously he's signed as an insurance policy until Lindholm and Vatanen return. I reflect back on the playoff runs when #23 and #47 we're paired together. They looked like they wanted to kill each other at times. Of course, this was heat of the moment stuff, and not some sort of deranged, sadistic, premeditated affair fueled by drug addiction, jealousy and a massive inferiority complex. Nevertheless, Lindholm played some of his best hockey with Beauchemin being a thorn in his side. Even with him being a healthy scratch, I think #23 re-signing here will bode well. |

If Beauchemin finds a way too pass bieska on the depth chart I'll be singing his praises. But with all the injuries I doubt carlyle sits either one. Im actually rooting for welinski. We polish people need too stick up for each other. |

Yeah, it's good to see GM Bob Murray learned from his mistakes and avoided another depth defensive botch job. Eric Brewer ... cringes. It still stings even all these years later. Most people learn from there mistakes, whether that's for better or for worse though. |

Rumor Perry hurt for just about the entire year. Maybe that affected him more than we know. He wasn't the same pest in front of the net like previous years. Not having Getz as his C will probably make a difference too. The contract is what it is. That's the price you pay for previous success. If he can hit 25G and 25A I'll be satisfied. If he hits 65 pts it's a true bounce back season.
He played in all 82 games the last 2 years. He's never had a 3 year stretch not missing a game. Have to figure he'll miss some time this year too. |
